|Local Notes:||Swem Library's copy rebound in vellum. It contains numerous Latin manuscript notes, marginalia, and corrections in ink and pencil. These are the work of at least two individuals; one concentrated on underlining words and filling in letters; another 18th-century hand recorded copious notes which can be reliably dated to 1720 or later, based on the mention of a demonstration made in Paris in that year.
Swem Library's copy contains an enclosure made on a half sheet of printed paper. The printed message cautions against accepting unqualified candidates for a physician's position and may have originated with the College of Physicians. The text has been crossed out and the paper used to record manuscript formulae.
Donated to Swem Library by Rev. Thomas S. Savage in 1869.
Swem Librarys copy is accompanied by A census of the owners of copies of the 1687 first edition of Newton's "Principia," classed under QA803 .A2 1687a.
